SUS630 stainless steel is a chromium-nickel stainless steel which contains columbium – a rare element that enhances corrosion resistance in many media. In addition, SUS630 has good oxidation resistance and can be formed and welded easily. This makes it an ideal choice for highly stressed parts that require high strength and good corrosion resistance.
There are several disadvantages to using SUS630 stainless steel in processing technology. One of the primary disadvantages is its high carbon content. This can result in carbide precipitation, which can lead to corrosion and reduced ductility. Additionally, the high carbon content can make SUS630 stainless steel difficult to weld. Another disadvantage to using this material is its susceptibility to intergranular corrosion, particularly when exposed to temperatures below 450°F. Finally, because of its high chromium and nickel content, SUS630 stainless steel is more expensive than other types of stainless steel.
SUS630 stainless steel is a chromium-nickel stainless steel with columbium added to help protect against intergranular corrosion. SUS630 is also stabilised by additions of niobium and tantalum. The columbium reduces carbide precipitation during welding and the niobium/tantalum combination helps control austenite formation thus providing improved resistance to intergranular corrosion especially in chloride environments.
This grade is suitable for a wide variety of applications including:
- Petrochemical equipment
- Heat exchangers
- Pipe work
- Boiler feedwater heaters
- Pressure vessels
- Rotating drums and media storage tanks
Stainless steel is a steel alloy with a minimum of 10.5% chromium content by mass. It is highly corrosion-resistant and can be used in a wide range of applications, from automotive to kitchenware. While it is easy to care for overall, there are a few things to keep in mind when cleaning and caring for SUS630 stainless steel specifically.
First, avoid using abrasive cleaners or scrubbers on the surface as they can damage the finish. Instead, opt for a mild detergent or soap and water solution. If there are stubborn stains, you can use a vinegar-based cleaner before rinsing thoroughly.
When drying, make sure to use a soft cloth in order to avoid scratches. If you need to remove heavy rust or debris, you can do so with a wire brush specifically designed for stainless steel (be careful not to damage the surface).
In general, it is best to avoid harsh chemicals and acidic solutions when cleaning any type of stainless steel. If you have any questions about what products are safe to use, feel free to contact the manufacturer or speak with a professional.
